It was a busy planting season, as they always are. But the crops are in and growing good! This year we have a mix of soybeans and corn, leaning more on the soybean side. With some hot weather and rain (but not too much) these plants can even change in a day!
As a small farm just spreading our wings, every second counts and every helping hand is held in gratitude. J & D are both still working full-time outside the farm, so farm hours start after 5 and could go until midnight. We planted corn until 11:30 p.m. one night simply because that’s the only time we could. Obviously planting in the dark isn’t the preferred method, but with tractor lights and some helping hands, things still looked pretty good in the daylight.
